Recycle and Repurpose for your sewing room

This post is a video that makes something useful for quilters out of an old baby crib.

I think there are other videos on the same website but haven't checked them out yet.

Any tips on organizing and storage are good to know.

March Meeting

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Are you Irish?  or do you just love Ireland?
Here is a quilt for you.
http://www.mccallsquilting.com/blogs/?s=ireland+quilt

The March meeting was held on March 12 with a trunk show from
Deb. H.   She had everything from family heirlooms to the contempory designs she has made for her family.  Thanks for sharing.

Val donated a small quilt for a door prize that was won by Laurie Page.

We are excited to hear that Colleen has a quilt accepted into the Paducah quilt show.

February Meeting

The next meeting is Monday, February 13th at 7 pm at the REC meeting room.
Open sewing during the day if you would like -  before the meeting.   If you are coming to sew, and would like to pick up the key for the room to save me a trip, let me know.

Unofficially, the room we currently use will no longer be rented as it is being re-modeled and re-purposed.   Other options are being explored in the community.  Bring ideas to the meeting.

A little bird told me about a bus trip to Paducah KY to a quilt show sponsored by a quilt shop in Missouri.  For more information:

Tickets go on sale on Feb. 14 for double room occupancy.
Anyone interested should talk to Colleen.

Are You Looking for a Project to Start??

Here is a link to a Mystery Block of the Month starting in the Feb. issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.
http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/blogs/apqstaff/2011/11/29/apq-2012-mystery-quilt/

It is designed by Monique Dillard of Open Gate Quilts from Illinois.
http://opengatequilts.blogspot.com/
I think her patterns, fabric line, and rulers are awesome.

The Clarke County Piecemakers would like to start a  Christmas quilt project also.
Do you have a pattern for a quilt that you think might make an heirloom Christmas quilt by 2012?
Maybe combine the two?
Bring it to the January meeting on Jan. 8th at the REC meeting room at 7 pm.

2012 dues are due also.

Shopping

As seen embroidered on a sweatshirt--
"Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden!"

Are your Christmas projects almost done?

The potluck meeting held on Dec.12th was enjoyed by the membership.
Christmas quilts and Christmas memories were shared.
Donations for the Clarke County Food Pantry were gathered and taken to the
Community Center.
Thank you for being generous and sharing.

Merry Christmas!
