Iowa Quilt Bloggers- Part. 6

When it is snowing and blowing outside, my computer keeps me entertained because I am reading quilt stories and enjoying quilt pictures on several quiling blogs.

Do you know your favorite (and mine) fabric and pattern designer from Iowa has a blog?

That would be Sandy Gervais from Algona, Iowa who was discovered by Moda in 1994.
Her blog often has previews of her up coming fabric line.
Check out her blog right now as she is participating in a blog hop that Moda is sponsoring. There are prizes!! One blog site (designer/designers) are highlighted each day with 20 participants. Join in the fun at http://piecesofmyheart-sgervais.blogspot.com
Sandy's pattens are available at http://www.piecesofmyheart.net/

Keep warm. Keep upright. Keep quilting.

Heidi Kaisand works for American Quilting Systems and travels for work.
She has a busy husband, one young son and twin daughters.
Life in the fast lane, but still has time to quilt.
Amazing! I appreciate her sense of humor and the photos she posts.
Check out her blog at www.blog.heidikaisand.com
and her etsy store (link from blog)

Iowa Quilt Bloggers - Part 3

Joined at the Hip pattern designer Tammy Johnson has a blog:
http://www.joinedatthehipgirls.blogspot.com/ She has lots of adventures
with two grandsons and survived an addition to her house including
a kitchen remodel.

I found this blog from their website for their pattern company.
http://www.joinedatthehip.com/ Check out "what's new"

The February issue of American Patchwork and Quilting has one of their new
patterns called "Bundle Up" (snowflakes and mittens) available as a kit if you would like.

I made twelve of their "Button Up" monthly quilt patterns that button onto a
background quilt. I have them hanging in the office for lots of people to enjoy.

Iowa Quilt Bloggers- Part 2

Sometimes quilt shop owners have a blog.
The owner of the Prairie Star quilt shop in Elk Horn, IA, Julie, has a blog that
showcases new patterns, quilt samples, and fabrics.
Check out the latest arrivals at their store - laminated fabric.
http://www.juliesquiltblog.com/

Elk Horn is the home of the National Danish Immigrant Museum and hosts World class exhibits. The latest in their Danish -American Artists Series is a retrospective of Danish Immigrant Grete Schioler's work. The exhibit runs from now until July 10. The works on view encompass a wide range of her work, including tapestry, silk painting, quilting, applique and knitting.
Special tours for textile interest groups (quilting groups, knitting groups, etc.) can be arranged. For more information visit www.danishmuseum.org or call 712-764-7001.

Sounds like a road trip??

Iowa Quilt Bloggers- Part 1

I think Iowa has some pretty awesome quilters and lots of great quilt shops as showcased in the Country Register - the shopper published every two months and available at a quilt shop near you.

Since I have started blogging in June, 2010, I have also enjoyed reading blogs of other quilters across the US (AL, AK, CA, MI, CO+others) Also one quilter that lives overseas in Japan posts every day, that's committment.

The question is..... who is blogging in Iowa? I found this blog link from the web site for the Quilt Connection shop in Ames. The bloggers are two employees of the shop - Jill and Marny. Check it out for their perspective on quilting. Fresh fabric and design inspiration with a modern twist. http://www.modernquiltrelish.blogspot.com

I will research additional bloggers- stay tuned for updates.
